Resident Evil 2 remake hands-on preview – back from the undead

This week at E3, developers talked over ten minutes of PS4 footage taken from their upcoming "don't call it a remake" release, as swoony dreamboat Leon Kennedy turns up for the worst first-day-of-work ever. Perhaps the biggest change is the switch to an over-the-shoulder camera, like the one used in Resident Evil 4, as opposed to the fixed camera angles seen in the PS1-era Resident Evil games. The remake will give players a third person over the shoulder view, like some of the more recent Resident Evil games not counting Resident Evil 7, which was in first person. Yes, you could play as a lump of tofu in 1998's Resident Evil 2, but it was an unlockable game mode accessed after getting an A rank in multiple scenario playthroughs. Along with the announcement was a new trailer that can be seen above. Considered one of the best games in the series, Resident Evil 2 was later ported to the Nintendo 64, Sega Dreamcast and PC with minor modifications. For those unfamiliar with the story, players join rookie police officer Leon Kennedy and college student Claire Redfield, who are thrust together by a disastrous outbreak in Raccoon City.
