Riyad Mahrez joins Manchester City from Leicester

Riyad Mahrez will finally complete his £60m record move to Manchester City this week, after it emerged he is not attending Leicester's training camp in France.

Mahrez was given extra time off by the Foxes after playing in Algeria's global games in June and had been set to return to pre-season training before confirmation of his move to City.

He took his tally to an impressive 39 goals in 139 Premier League appearances, 38 of those coming as Leicester lifted the trophy in stunning fashion back in 2016.

Leicester City will face a real fight to keep hold of the no-nonsense defender following the competition and it remains to be seen whether one of the top clubs can entice him out of the King Power Stadium.

Leicester have granted Mahrez extra time off this summer, meaning that he has not returned to pre-season training at the club's Belvoir Drive training ground with the rest of his Foxes teammates.

The 27-year-old has signed a five-year contract will wear the No 26 shirt.

City's director of football Txiki Begiristain added: "Riyad is a hugely talented player".

Mahrez joined Leicester from Le Havre for £400,000 in 2014, and was named the PFA Players' Player of the Year during their surprise Premier League triumph in 2015-16.

"Watching them from afar has been a pleasure".

While we can't verify for sure that it is Mahrez, it certainly looks to be and the presence of City staffers would seem to confirm it.

City cruised to the Premier League title, becoming the first team to hit the 100-point barrier since the Premier League was founded in 1992.
