The 25-year-old rapper retaliated as her manager Klenord Raphael aka Shaft, filed a $10 million lawsuit against her, alleging a breach of contract, unjust enrichment, declaratory judgment and defamation.

"The suit, filed in New York's Southern District by attorney Paul LiCalsi of Robins Kaplan, claims that Shaft used money that belonged to Cardi - whose real name is Belcalis Almanzar - for "personal travel, entertainment and expenses", and that employees of Shaft's company, KSR, "[helped] themselves to the 'Bank of Almanzar, '" taking "loans" of up to $15,000 without Cardi's knowledge. The documents say that Raphael originally agreed to get 20 per cent commission but after Cardi got a publishing deal with Sony music, he demanded 50 per cent.

In April, Cardi had a suit filed against her by Raphael, who claimed he'd helped to develop her talent and reputation only for her to turn her back on him when she reached the top of the music business. She's also claiming he was too controlling over, not only her career but her personal life too.

The "Bodak Yellow" singer also claimed Raphael put "barriers between her and people close to her in an effort to maintain complete control over her", and told her "who she should and should not see romantically".

Since leaving Raphael's management, Cardi's career has been guided by Quality Control's Solid Foundation, which is run by Kevin Lee and Pierre Thomas.

Raphael blames both Offset and Patience Foster, who is Cardi B's makeup artist and publicist, for "turning" her against him, and feels that but for their influence, he would still be a part of Cardi's success.

The lawsuit seeks compensatory damages of $5 million, punitive damages of $15 million, rescission of the management agreement and the KSR Recording agreement and payment of all attorneys fees, among other requests.

Tense: Cardi B says Shaft tried to drive a wedge between her and her now-spouse Offset. Her latest album "Invasion of Privacy" was released earlier this month and debuted at #1 on the Billboard Hot 200.
