Turkey Sacks 18,500 Employees Including Soldiers Policemen In New Decree

A few days before the end of the state of emergency in Turkey, with a decree published on Sunday in the Government Gazette, 18,632 people from the Turkish state were dismissed!

It said 8,998 police officers were ousted from the Security General Directorate, while 649 others were dismissed from the Gendarmerie General Command.

Government officials have indicated that the emergency could be declared over as early as Monday.

Human rights defenders including Amnesty International have criticized the purges as arbitrary.

But the government says they are necessary to remove multiple terror threats inside state institutions.

Erdogan will take his oath in the Turkish parliament, followed by a lavish ceremony at his nearby palace in Ankara.

The current parliamentary system will end under constitutional changes approved in a referendum past year.

With the declaration of new cabinet, the state of emergency that expires on July 19 should automatically be lifted, according to outgoing Prime Minister Binali Yildirim.

The government blames a US -based cleric for orchestrating the coup and has sacked or arrested people suspected of links to him.

The Turkish government blames the July coup, 2016, living in the USA of the theologian Fethullah gülen, and the charges of belonging to a "terrorist group Fethullah" is used during the purges constantly.

Some 3,077 army soldiers were also dismissed as well as 1,949 air force personnel and 1,126 from the naval forces.

In addition, the decree states that 148 people, fired by previous decrees, are reinstated in the public administration.

More than 75,000 people have been arrested for alleged links to Gulen.
