Pakistan opener Shehzad charged over positive test: PCB

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) will charge Ahmed Shehzad after the batsman failed the dope test.

Shehzad originally underwent a random dope test in Faisalabad during the 50-over Pakistan Cup in the last week of April, but news of a positive test emerged through media reports on June 20. "PCB will issue charge sheet today", the board said in a tweet.

The source explained that the delay in the results had been because samples were sent to an Indian lab for confirmation after Shehzad was tested positive in Pakistan.

In fact, the report was received by PCB on Tuesday.

Once he has received the notice, Shehzad stands provisionally suspended and can not play - or be involved in any capacity - in worldwide matches, and games organised by any national cricket board or its affiliated members. Cricketer Ahmad Shahzad has tested positive for a banned substance. However, as per the rules of the International Cricket Council, PCB had not revealed the cricketer's name.

The PCB last month confirmed, without naming anyone, that a player had failed the dope test conducted during a domestic tournament.

"A player has reportedly tested positive for a prohibited substance". The report from India arrived yesterday, confirming results of the previous test.

He was part of Pakistan s Twenty20 squad for the team s two worldwide matches last month, managing scores of 14 and 24, but missed out on playing for the tri-series Twenty20 in Zimbabwe which ended Sunday.
