Instead, it drifts somewhere in-between.

The trailer for director Desiree Akhavan's The Miseducation of Cameron Post, based on the novel of the same name, showcases a YA story like no other. From a script by Akhavan and Cecilia Frugiuele, The Miseducation of Cameron Post is set to hit theaters August 3.

Cameron, along with fellow queer campers Jane (Sasha) and Adam (Forrest), rebels against the ideals of the religious camp authorities.

Having caught the film at Tribeca myself, I am in total agreement with Siddhant's review. "Pairing well with another Sundance premiere Come Sunday, which preaches the inclusive embrace at the heart of Jesus' message, A Miseducation of Cameron Post shows the risky progression when conservative religious doctrine gets conflated with righteous indignation". It's a lovely film, and one of the best coming-of-age movies in recent memory.

The trailer centers on Cameron (Chloë Grace Moretz), a teenage girl who is sent to conversion therapy camp after she gets caught making out with another girl on prom night. Run by the strict Dr. Lydia Marsh (Jennifer Ehle) and her brother, Reverend Rick (John Gallagher Jr.) - himself an example of how those in the program can be "cured" - the center is populated by teens "struggling with same-sex attraction".

Also starring John Gallagher Jr., Sasha Lane, Forrest Goodluck, Jennifer Ehle, Emily Skeggs, and Owen Campbell, see the trailer below. In creating a family on her own terms, she learns what it means to empower herself and have confidence in her identity.
