Progressive challenges no longer run out at the end of a season, with players able to complete them at their own pace rather than having to rush.

The new All Terrain Kart has space for your entire squad, so says update v5.0's patch notes.

Fortnite is now offline on all platforms while it's getting patched and updated ready to support Season 5. The ATK is basically a ruggedized golf cart that enables speed boosts when drifting. If that wasn't enough, the roof also acts as a bounce pad. Epic has brought some of them down to earth in the form of Rifts. It remains unclear how exactly this will work, but it's possible that players will be sucked into a Rift and be teleported to a different location. In addition to balance changes and bug fixes, the latest version of Fortnite adds new locations to explore, a new vehicle to drive around the map, more challenges for free players to complete, and, as always, plenty of new cosmetics to unlock. Update v5.0's patch notes inform the centres of Storm Circles 7, 8 and 9 can now shift in random directions, as opposed to shrinking as normal.

While the new locations and features will capture your attention, Epic has made a number of important tweaks to the in-game mechanics. Heavy shotguns have been given a 10 pellet magazine, instead of 5, and the ability to double pump has been reduced with the introduction of a shot delay.

As exciting as Fortnite's fourth season was, with consumable comet fragments, a Thanos crossover event, and even a surprise rocket launch, the game's fifth season might be even bigger. Rather than their bullet spread being randomised, they'll now fire in a consistent manner, meaning you'll be able to learn where within their arc will actually get hit. To rectify this, players can earn XP for reviving their teammates in 50v50 and Teams of 20 matches. For the Nintendo Switch, Epic games has also included motion controls which can be adjusted in the Settings menu.
