But in the Wednesday filing, special counsel Robert MuellerRobert Swan MuellerSasse: US should applaud choice of Mueller to lead Russian Federation probe MORE argued that Manafort's claims do not hold up because Manafort has said in multiple prison calls that he has had full access to his files and attorneys.

Manafort's motion seeks to move the Virginia trial-which is for charges of bank and tax fraud related to money he made working in Ukraine-until after his D.C. federal money laundering trial set for September.

In an effort to further delay his upcoming federal trial in Virginia, Paul Manafort argued that his living conditions in jail prevent him from adequately preparing with his legal team.

His lawyers had cited concerns about his safety in trying to block the transfer, but U.S. District Judge T.S. Ellis III didn't buy it. Phone logs show that he has made more than 300 calls, including more than 100 to his lawyers.

"Among the unique privileges Manafort enjoys at the jail are a private, self-contained living unit, which is larger than other inmates" units, his own bathroom and shower facility, his own personal telephone, and his own workspace to prepare for trial", prosecutors said in their filing.

Manafort has also asked for the Virginia trial to be moved to Roanoke, saying northern Virginians were too overwhelmed with news stories about the case and too hostile toward the Trump administration to give him a fair trial.

Manafort speaks to his attorneys every day and often multiple times a day, they said.

"Manafort has access to a separate workroom at the jail to meet with his attorneys and legal team", it continues.

"Manafort has revealed on the monitored phone calls that in order to exchange emails, he reads and composes emails on a second laptop that is shuttled in and out of the facility by his team", Mueller's team said.

Manafort has been held at the Northern Neck Regional Jail in Warsaw, Va., since another federal judge presiding over his case in Washington, D.C., revoked his bail last month.

Not only has Manafort done a good amount of prep already, he also has ample opportunity for additional work. Manafort has pleaded not guilty to all charges.

"Review of that material can be accomplished well in advance of the July 25 trial date and does not warrant a months-long adjournment", the government filings said.

Manafort told his listener to "think about how it'll play elsewhere". He has scheduled a hearing on both issues for Tuesday at 1 p.m.
