Michael Avenatti Says Stormy Daniels Was Arrested While Performing at a Strip Club: ‘This Was a Setup’

While Daniels was performing at Sirens, a strip club in Columbus, some patrons touched her in a "non-sexual" way, her lawyer, Michael Avenatti, told The Associated Press.

The lawyer said Daniels, whose real name is Stephanie Clifford, is expected to be charged with one or more misdemeanors.

Under Ohio law, an employee who regularly appears nude or seminude on the premises of a sexually oriented business is not allowed to touch anyone who's not a family member while nude or seminude at that business.

Mr Avenatti wrote: "This was a setup & politically motivated".

A woman who answered the phone at the strip club declined to comment on whether Daniels had been arrested or on whether her performance was still scheduled.

The high-powered attorney claims the arrest was "part of a sting" based on a "puritan law" that says there is absolutely no touching in strip clubs in Columbus. "There has to be a better goal for such resources".

We expect her to be released on bail shortly.

"This was a setup & politically motivated". It reeks of desperation.

'We will fight all bogus charges'. Reached by The Washington Post early Thursday, a representative for Sirens strip club refused to comment.

He says he's confident that she'll be cleared of all charges. While exact details of the performance have yet to be released, the answer may lie with a decade-old OH state law, the Community Defense Act.

Although the law has been in effect for over a decade, a 2017 report from The Columbus Dispatch found that it is seldom enforced.

Stormy Daniels has been arrested in OH while performing a strip show at Sirens Gentleman's Club in Columbus.
