‘Downton Abbey’ Movie Gets Go-Ahead, With Series Cast Returning

Three years after going off the air, Downton Abbey is coming back as a movie.

"Since the series ended, fans of "Downton" have always been waiting for the Crawley family's next chapter", said Focus chairman Peter Kujawski. Focus Features and Universal Pictures International are distributing the film around the world.

Across six seasons of its original run, Downton Abbey - set in the wealthy Crawley family's country estate as it followed their intricate lives as well as those of the servants they employed at the turn of the 20th century - garnered a steady worldwide following and sustained critical acclaim.

Gareth Neame, Carnival's Executive Chairman and the film's producer said, "When the television series drew to a close it was our dream to bring the millions of global fans a movie and now, after getting many stars aligned, we are shortly to go into production".

Brian Percival, who directed the series' pilot, will direct the film. "Delighted to announce we're getting the band back together!" she tweeted, while Michelle Dockery also shared her joy online, saying that she was "thrilled to announce that #DowntonAbbey is coming to the big screen".

"Since the series ended", Peter Kujawksi, chairman of Focus Features, who will distribute the film with Universal Pictures, "fans of Downton have always been waiting for the Crawley family's next chapter". Including over 55 authentic costumes as well as props and sets from the TV series, Downton Abbey comes vividly to life through interactive displays and visitor experiences. The Exhibition is based in NY atে W 57th Street until 3rd September. While I adored the series for a couple seasons, I admittedly never finished it (yes I just spoiled myself on the finale to get you fellow readers up to speed), but why did no one tell me Matthew Goode was on the show?
