Crenshaw, 46, uses his feet to paint and allegedly used his feet again to stab tourist Cesar Coronado, 22, after midnight on Tuesday, the newspaper reports.

Coronado told police he was just asking for directions when Crenshaw suddenly jumped up and stabbed him. Crenshaw told officers he was lying down when Coronado punched him in the head, according to an arrest report obtained by the Miami Herald.

A MAN previously thought to be harmless - as he was a disabled artist who sold his canvases in Miami's touristy South Beach, has been charged with stabbing a Chicago tourist.

Barrientos described the attacker to police as a homeless man with no arms.

Crenshaw was booked on a charge of aggravated battery.

Police say Crenshaw stabbed Coronado twice and fled.

Police found Mr Coronado bleeding from his left arm and he was taken to hospital for treatment, the Miami Herald reported.

An arm-less, popular street artist was arrested for stabbing a tourist in Miami, Florida. Crenshaw, who is being held at Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center in Miami, told the police that he acted in self-defense.

His arrest record includes offences dating back to 2008 for trespassing, disorderly intoxication, vandalism and battery on police officers among others. He has a court date set for July 18.
