Chelsea have sacked manager Antonio Conte after two years in charge.

According to Italian sources, including Gianluca Di Marzio, Conte is set for a legal battle with his former employers over compensation for the remaining year on his three-year contract with the Blues.

"Chelsea Football Club and Antonio Conte have parted company", a brief statement read.

The Italian coach joined Chelsea in 2016 and led them to the league title in his debut season along with an FA Cup triumph last campaign.

The former Juventus coach won the Premier League title in his first season, but that initial success was soured by an off-the-field power struggle over the club's transfer policy.

Conte was relieved of his duties after he conducted training at Cobham for the final time on Thursday morning before saying his goodbyes to players and staff.

The Chelsea playmaker thanked his boss for his time at the club and wished him the best for the future, as did both Belgian winger Charly Musonda and midfielder Nathaniel Chalobah (now at Watford) on Instagram.

Conte has been sacked after two years at Chelsea.

Conte has been on the verge of an exit since the closing stages of the 2017-18 season, but due to a multitude of reasons, the club have dallied in making it official.

"If Chelsea are paying him even more, I can understand that too".

The team also missed out on Champions League qualification for next season, though salvaged something from Conte's second year in charge by winning the FA Cup.

Sarri's future has been up in the air since Napoli hired Carlo Ancelotti as its new coach in May.

Therefore, Chelsea are being forced to pay Napoli a fee to secure Sarri's services.
