Report Former Celtic Isaiah Thomas signs in Denver

Entering his eighth National Basketball Association season, Isaiah Thomas apparently will be joining a sixth team.

Hip injuries are tricky, so it's going to be fascinating to see if the surgery Thomas received will completely fix the issues that have hobbled him for the past year.

Isaiah Thomas was no exception, as the 5-foot-9 dynamo signed a one-year deal for the veteran's minimum with the Denver Nuggets and plans to thrive on a sixth man role in hopes to land a long-term contract next offseason, according to Alex Kennedy of HoopsHype. The move reunites him with head coach Mike Malone, Thomas' former coach with the Sacramento Kings. A problem with the same joint also knocked him out of the end of the 2017 playoffs.

Thomas finished last season with the Los Angeles Lakers after his trade from the Boston Celtics to the Cleveland Cavaliers. The following year he started off in Phoenix before getting traded to Boston. He was an All-Star in both 2015-16 and 2016-17, averaging 25.5 points and 6.1 points in those seasons combined. The Celtics reached the Eastern Conference Finals that year but a hip injury kept Thomas sidelined as LeBron James, Kyrie Irving and the Cavs advanced to the NBA Finals.

The 29-year-old only played in 15 games with the Lakers last season.

No player tanked their value as a free agent more over the a year ago than Isaiah Thomas.
