Trump snubs CNN, slams NBC during Theresa May presser

President Donald Trump refused pleas for a question from CNN’s Jim Acosta during Friday’s joint press conference in the U.K. with Prime Minister Theresa May

During his joint press conference with British Prime Minister Theresa May, Trump made it clear that he would not take any questions from his CNN nemesis, because he didn't take questions from "fake news".

Trump called it dishonest reporting. "He also called out CNN as not a real network, fake news".

In his interview with The Sun, Trump slammed May over her "soft" Brexit plan, which has put May's standing as the head of the Conservative Party in jeopardy.

A major topic at the press conference was the fallout from an interview that Trump gave to The Sun, a British tabloid owned by Rupert Murdoch's News Corp., in which he criticized the way that May handled negotiations for the British exit from the European Union.

Trump spoke at a news conference with May following meetings at her official country estate outside of London. I don't take questions- I don't take questions from CNN.

Trump has repeatedly attacked CNN throughout his time as president, and he has had a notably contentious relationship with Acosta. "And to say they're not a real network, or fake news, is also unfair". "It's called "fake news".

Before he had the chance to release his so-called "audio" recordings, however, The Sun released the recordings of the interview themselves.

"There are some fine journalists who work there [at CNN] and risk their lives to report on stories around the world", Roberts added, noting that he used to work for the network.

Welker asked him whether his widely reported criticism of May, and his barbs aimed earlier in the week at North Atlantic Treaty Organisation allies, served to give Russian President Vladimir Putin the "upper hand" ahead of Monday's leader-to-leader summit.

CNN's Jake Tapper tweeted that he is "old enough to remember when other networks came to the defense of Fox News WH correspondents during the Obama years. Lesson for the kids out there: no one should ever try to do the right thing with the expectation it will ever be reciprocated".

Fox News carried the news conference live, but its account afterward only briefly touched on the fake-news comment. "Of course, it happens to be NBC, which is possibly worse than CNN".

"Asking smart, tough questions, whether in a presidential press conference or interview, is central to the role a free press plays in a healthy republic", she said.

"See, that's such dishonest reporting", Trump fired back. "For the President to call her dishonest is unfair", Roberts said in a statement to TheWrap.
