'American Horror Story' Renewed for Season 10

The forthcoming season - which we now know begins pre-apocalypse - is a crossover season of sorts, combining Coven and the first season, commonly called "Murder House".

Despite still being in production on its upcoming eighth season, American Horror Story has been officially given the go-ahead to continue into double digits, according to a news item from The Hollywood Reporter.

Even though the premiere of the eighth season of Ryan Murphy's American Horror Story is still over a month away, FX has already renewed the series for Season 10. Wow.

As to whether Season 10 will be the end, Landgraf says he doesn't know. In adults 18-49, each of the last five installments of American Horror Story has ranked among cable's Top 5 scripted series in the year in which it aired. "So, it comes down to whether Ryan and his collaborators, like [executive producer] Tim Minear, could come up with stories that they are excited about".

Lange will be returning to play Constance, her character from AHS's third season, Coven.

Although Murphy recently signed a major deal with Netflix to produce shows for the streaming giant, his creations like Feud, Pose, 9-1-1 and American Horror Story will remain with FX. Considering Lange was integral to both seasons, her return is something fans have been hoping for, even though the actress departed the series after Season 4 (Hotel). "Jessica will be returning as Constance in an episode I'm gonna direct", Sarah Paulson revealed Friday during the show's Television Critics Association summer press tour panel, later revealing that she's helming Episode 6.

Speaking with Entertainment Weekly in May, creator Ryan Murphy said: 'It's a season unlike anything we've done because there's a big hook to it. It debuts on September 12 and includes Paulson, Evan Peters and Kathy Bates.
