A dead fetus was found on a plane from Charlotte Tuesday morning.

An under-developed fetus was discovered on an American Airlines flight at LaGuardia Airport.

Fetus was thought to be 5 months along.

American Airlines Flight 1942, which left Charlotte, North Carolina, at 8:56 p.m. on Monday night, arrived at the Queens, New York, hub at 10:44 p.m.

The plane was later pictured being moved to a hanger as law enforcement began investigating the find. LaGuardia Airport confirmed the plane was briefly out of service overnight. "We will release determination when investigation is complete".

The Queens district attorney's office is investigating.

American Airlines also sent out an official statement, but offered no details about what had been found.

A cleaning crew found the fetus in the bathroom of the plane, which had landed in NY on Monday night from Charlotte, North Carolina, according to a high-ranking police source. Officials said a short time later that the flight was delayed until 4 p.m.
