To examine the intersection of politics and sports, Showtime has ordered a three-part documentary series, "Shut Up and Dribble", which lists James as an executive producer.

The title is a reference to a comment made earlier this year by Fox News host Laura Ingraham, who responded to political statements from James by telling him to "shut up and dribble". Showtime president and CEO David Nevins announced the news at the TCA summer press tour on Monday.

The series is set to debut in October, according to the LA Times.

"LeBron James is one of many competitors whose place in the spotlight has led not to silence but perspective", Nevins said, adding that the series "should bring their fans and fellow citizens to a higher level of discourse, rather than the dismissal satirized in the title".

The president lashed out at James after the three-time National Basketball Association champion was interviewed by CNN's Don Lemon largely to tout a public school in Akron, Ohio that his foundation helped to open last week. "I like Mike", the President wrote on August 4.

In his interview with Lemon, LeBron accused Trump of using sports to "divide us". I got an opportunity to see them and learn about them, and they got the opportunity to learn about me.

James also promised a free bicycle and helmets for students and vowed to pay tuition to the University of Akron for I Promise graduates, among other things.

During the Monday night panel, Cooper and the famed evangelist duked it out with Dennard, who insisted that Trump "doesn't attack first" but was merely responding to James' claim that he would not sit across from him for an interview.

US first lady Melania Trump also appeared to take exception with her husband's attack on James.
