Gal Gadot is nearing a deal to star in a limited series for Showtime about actress/inventor Hedy Lamarr, Deadline reports.

The limited series, which will be made by U.S. network Showtime with Sarah Treem, co-creator and executive producer of The Affair, and The Handmaid's Tale producer Warren Littlefield.

Lamarr, born in Austria, went on to become one of the most famous stars of the Hollywood firmament, known for movies such as Samson And Delilah, Come Live With Me, Boom Town and The Ziegfeld Girl. Sarah Treem, creator of The Affair, is in talks to write the show. Alongside film composer George Antheil, Lamarr helped create a radio guidance system for torpedoes, ideas for which are now used in Wi-Fi and GPS.

The Handmaid's Tale and Fargo EP Warren Littlefield is also on board to executive produce alongside Gadot and her husband, Jaron Varsano.

Gadot has a number of projects in pre-production, including the Dwayne Johnson vehicle Red Notice, but will next be seen in the anticipated Wonder Woman 1984, directed by Patty Jenkins and co-starring Chris Pine (Into the Woods), set for release on November 1, 2019.
