With Wolves now set to pay above the release clause, albeit in instalments, Middlesbrough have been left with no choice but to allow Traore to talk to Wolves ahead of the move.

Traore has been strongly linked with a move to Wolves over the last few weeks, with last season's Championship winners seemingly prepared to break their transfer record to sign the attacker.

Wolves met Boro's asking price for Traore, which a club record fee for a Boro player.

Boro saw Traore thrive in the Championship last season, hitting five goals and 10 assists as he helped Tony Pulis and co reach the play-offs, before losing to Aston Villa in the semi-finals.

Now, Wolves want to hand Traore another shot in the Premier League, with Nuno's men closing in on a deal according to The Sun - and the report also notes Boro's hopes in terms of a replacement.

The winger will undergo a medical on Monday, and will join up with his new teammates before Wolves' Premier League curtain raiser against Everton on Saturday evening.
