BATWOMAN Co-Creator Weighs in on RUBY ROSE Casting

Rose shared her big news in an emotional Instagram post.

Both Variety and Deadline report that Rose, now appearing in the giant-shark action movie The Meg, has been tapped to portray Kate Kane in both the upcoming Arrow/Flash/Supergirl crossover special and the potential Batwoman series being helmed by Caroline Dries that could air in 2019. If the Batwoman pilot is ordered to series, it will air sometime in 2019.

The logline for the series describes Kate Kane as an out lesbian and trained street fighter with a "passion for social justice and flair for speaking her mind" who patrols and protects the streets of Gotham as Batwoman. But don't call her a hero yet. "In a city desperate for a savior, Kate must overcome her own demons before embracing the call to be Gotham's symbol of hope".

"The Bat is out of the bag and I am beyond thrilled and honored. Thank you everyone. Thank you god".

Rose, also known for turns in Orange Is the New Black and appearances in Resident Evil: The Final Chapter and John Wick: Chapter 2, will first appear in the role later this year.

@RubyRose will be playing Batwoman on #Arrow, I'm beyond happy.

I have nothing against Ruby Rose but I think they could do a better job to find someone who can match Kathy Kane better.

Fandom: We want a queer actor to play Batwoman.

The starlet -whose full name is Ruby Rose Langenheim- cheerfully posed for photos with fans as she head into the studio to discuss her latest film, The Meg.
