Brendan Rodgers has claimed that Celtic showed a different side to their game in grinding out a goalless draw against Rosenborg in the second leg of their Champions League second qualifying round tie.

The deal comes as Tom Rogic opened his account for Celtic after just eight minutes of the new Scottish Premiership season, scoring the first of Celtic's goals in their comprehensive 3-1 victory over newly-promoted Livingston.

"He is obviously finalising his deal with Manchester City and there are talks with ourselves in order for him to come in", the Celitc boss said.

"He is another exciting young talent and we will see if we can get that organised in the next few days".

Losing Ntcham would be a significant blow for Celtic, for whom he has become a key player since making the move from Manchester City last July.

Rogic was the architect of the second in the 26th minute as he led a counter-attack and Ntcham's cut-back was finished by Edouard.

Celtic will face Swedish side Malmo or Hungarian outfit MOL Vidi in the Champions League play-off round if they overcome AEK Athens.

Livingston's problems increased when Declan Gallagher was adjudged to have fouled Callum McGregor inside the box and Ntcham slotted the ball home. "I thought some of our play was excellent".

Elsewhere, Hearts strolled to an opening-day win as summer signing Peter Haring scored twice in a 4-1 success at Hamilton.
