Pamela Anderson, Julian Assange 'Romance' Spices Up Wikileaks Probe

The United States Senate Intelligence Committee has summoned WikiLeaks editor and founder Julian Assange to testify on alleged Russian interference in the 2016 election, WikiLeaks said Wednesday in a tweet showing the letter, dated August 1, that was delivered to Assange's residence at the Ecuadorean embassy in London.

Pamela Anderson's self-described "romantic connection" with Julian Assange, as reported by Fox News, suddenly spices up the long-running investigation of Wikileaks' connections to Russian interference in the 2016 USA election.

In a letter delivered to Assange at his residence in the Ecuadorian embassy in London, committee chairman Richard Burr (R-North Carolina) requested that Assange make himself available for a closed interview "at a mutually agreeable time and location".

Wikileaks legal team, the organization's Twitter account said, is "considering the offer but the conditions must conform to a high ethical standard".

Assange fled to the Ecuadorian embassy in London in 2012, seeking asylum from possible extradition to the US, where he faced indictment under the Espionage Act for publishing leaked government documents.

She said Assange has been "wrongly accused of so many things," amid the investigation into the 2016 election interference in which Wikileaks reportedly played a role for distributing private emails from the Democratic National Committee that were reportedly hacked and sent to Assange's website. Assange had been granted asylum by Moreno's predecessor, and the new president described the Australian journalist as an "inherited problem". In 2016, a United Nations working group found that Assange's stay in the embassy amounted to an "arbitrary deprivation of liberty".
