Epic’s changing Fortnite matchmaking to save console players from keyboard and mouse

Samsung is about to launch its highly-anticipated Galaxy Note 9, the latest phone in its premium smartphone range. At today's launch event in NY, we are expecting to see an edge-to-edge display, a powerful dual camera and Samsung's trademark S-Pen. That's just as true in Fortnite, and since the console versions officially support mice a predominantly controller-based segment of players occasionally getting smoked by mouse users.

It's not clear whether there will be any surprises, but you can find out for sure by tuning in to the event.

"We're actually working on some matchmaking tech, on the way, that'll pair you against folks based on your choice of peripherals", said one Epic community manager, promising to share more this coming week. According to market analyst IHS Markit, Samsung's shipments also fell 11 percent to 70.8 million units, compared to the previous year. Thanks to leaks, we know that the phone will look a lot like its Note 8 predecessor and that its embedded S-Pen stylus will have Bluetooth capabilities.

We already know that the Note9 will sport a 6.4-inch, 2960×1440 AMOLED screen, up to 512GB of storage (expandable to a massive 1TB) and a 4,000mAh battery.
