With the cast of the film in the bandwagon and the screen play of the film locked, the Karan Johar directorial Takht is expected to go on floors in April next year.

Johar's Dharma Productions will produce the film. It includes Ranveer Singh ("Padmaavat"), Kareena Kapoor Khan ("Veere Di Wedding"), Alia Bhatt ("Raazi"), Vicky Kaushal ("Sanju"), Bhumi Pednekar ("Toilet - Ek Prem Katha"), Janhvi Kapoor ("Dhadak") and Anil Kapoor ("Race 3").

After helming Ranbir Kapoor-Alia Bhatt-Aishwarya Rai Bachchan starrer "Ae Dil Hai Mushkil", Karan will be donning the director's hat for "Takht" after two years.

The film has been described a historical on the Mughal dynasty and based on two brothers - Singh and Kaushal will be seen playing the two brothers. It is set in the Mughal era and will deal with myriad emotions - love, betrayal, family, ambition, greed and succession. It revolves around an epic battle for the throne. Like most Dharma Productions, the film is touted to be a dramatic story about family, love, succession and how ambition and greed change the dynamics of relationships. Her brothers were Dara Shikoh and Aurangzeb. For the longest time, Bollywood buffs have been waiting to see Ranveer and Kareena together on the 70 mm. She too took to Twitter to share her excitement at the development stating how she was getting back to where it all began. So so so so excited to be a part of this historical magnum opus!

Takht will release in 2020.
