The best defender award will definitely go to a Real Madrid player as Marcelo, Sergio Ramos and Raphael Varane are the three nominees.

He will compete for the honour with Real Madrid's Costa Rica worldwide Keylor Navas and Italian Gianluigi Buffon, who completed a switch from Juventus to Paris St Germain last month.

The winners will be announced at the respective Champions League and Europa League group stage draws in Monaco on August 30 and 31.
