The moves for Soyuncu, 22, and Benkovic, 21, are clearly created to consolidate the future for Leicester at centre back, with Robert Huth leaving this summer and both Wes Morgan and new signing Jonny Evans being over 30 years old.

That bad taste is sure to be exacerbated by a report in The Telegraph that claims the Manchester club could've signed Harry Maguire last season for the paltry sum of £15 million.

Manchester United's search for a centre-back took them from Leicester and London to Munich and Madrid.

"I would like to be part of it and am looking forward to it".

The duo only returned to full training this week after being given extra time off due to their exertions with England at the World Cup helping the Three Lions reach the semi-finals.

Iheanacho netted for a third successive pre-season game on Saturday, taking his tally to four goals this summer with a double in a 2-1 win away to French club Lille.

"If I am chosen for the game against United I have to keep my goal-scoring record and work hard for the team", said Iheanacho.

"I think he's a fantastic player, he proved it again at the World Cup after not playing so many games last season".

United have endured a hard pre-season period full of fitness and transfer frustrations, but won their opening game in each of the last three EPL seasons. Sometimes things don't go the way you want. The window is still open for most European nations until 31 August, which means Premier League players can still be sold.

"We want to keep our best players for the squad and for the season, we want to keep a good ambition".

Leicester, spurred on by their promising new prospect James Maddison, grew into the game after the early setback but, in the end, their inability to convert their chances cost them.
