Paul Pogba opens up on his mental state at Manchester United

Jose Mourinho showed his disappointment over the club's transfer activity this summer again as he said he should be described as Manchester United's "head coach" rather than manager.

"Some of us, me included, didn't have a lot of training and we played a game".

It was not ideal by any means, but who cares?

Coy on what United could achieve this season, Pogba knows the importance of aiming for success with the club and the responsibility that came with wearing the armband.

Despite the rumoured transfer conflict between Jose Mourinho and Paul Pogba, Mourinho handed the captaincy to Pogba, and the French midfielder delivered in style.

United were outstanding in the early stages and I think the Foxes were in shock at the way they came out of the blocks and took control of the game.

They face Brighton away next Sunday and will be hoping that more of their players are back to peak fitness. "You have to know one thing - a player that gets chosen and is happy, you always feel more comfortable than when he's not happy" said Pogba.

"If I played Scott, I would have two kids and a new player [Fred] in midfield". "I had my plans for many months and I find myself with the market closed in a situation I did not think I would be in".

"I know that Paul doesn't resist for 90, the same with Fred".

That was down to the organisation and discipline of the senior players that Mourinho could call upon, and how hard they worked together as a unit when they did not have the ball.

Mourinho got it right. [Shaw's] game was very complete, even if I forget the goal, of course an important goal for us, but the performance was very complete.

And although left-back Luke Shaw - one of Mourinho's other whipping boys - was made man-of-the-match for his win-clinching first ever goal for United it was Pogba's drive, determination, influence and leadership that were key to victory.

Pogba returns to United having been lauded for his role in France's World Cup win. "I am someone who likes challenges and wants to progress and you have to leave it behind now".

Leicester and England forward Jamie Vardy reduced the arrears toward the end of the match, but Manchester United held on to claim their first win of the season.

Shaw got the start, which would have been nerve-wracking for him.

"Manchester United fans are uncomfortable with what they're watching", Nicholas told Sky Sports.

"I always give my best for the fans, for the team mates. and for the people that trust me".
