NFL player responds to Trump's tweet: 'What a goober'

"The Broward County PBA (BCPBA) recently offered our members discounts to a Miami Dolphins game because that franchise said they were going to honor all First Responders", BCPBA posted on Facebook Friday.

Jordan is just one of many players who has questioned why Trump would get involved with the debate over the protests.

"It's a peaceful protest", Wilson said after Thursday's game.

President Donald Trump criticized the players on Twitter. "If you have already purchased a ticket to this game, we encourage you to call the Dolphins ticket office to request a refund because this organization does not honor first responders and the danger they put themselves in every day". "Numerous players, from different teams, wanted to show their "outrage" at something that majority are unable to define". Stand proudly for your National Anthem or be Suspended Without Pay! "Taking a knee when they should be standing proudly for the National Anthem".

Dolphins coach Adam Gase has said he was not telling his players what to do during the anthem and the team did not have a policy regarding anthem protests before Thursday night's game.

The NFL issued a statement a few hours later, saying that no discipline would be issued for that while negotiations continue with the league and the NFLPA about a potential new anthem policy. "While those discussions continue, the National Football League has agreed to delay implementing or enforcing any club work rules that could result in players being disciplined for their conduct during the performance of the anthem".

Trump, Tapper noted, is "once again seeing a divided nation and doing the opposite of trying to bring us together" by "giving a presidential megaphone to one side in a controversial cultural issue that sometimes stokes racial tensions". Albert Wilson @iThinkIsee12 joined him in protest.
