The university formed an "independent working group" the following day to conduct their investigation into Meyer, which it said it would complete within 14 days.

Now that they have reached the halfway point, Smith told The Columbus Dispatch that he expects to be interviewed himself on Monday or Tuesday this week, though he declined to comment further.

Smith's attorney, Brad Koffel, told ESPN that his client plans to answer all of the investigator's questions. Ohio State has placed Meyer on paid administrative leave pending the results of an investigation into how he and others at the university handled allegations made by Smith's ex-wife.

Smith has denied the domestic abuse allegations against him, claiming he "never committed domestic abuse against" his wife, Courtney, though he did admit that their relationship was toxic and there were "times when things got out of hand".

"Courtney Smith, ex-wife of fired Ohio State assistant coach Zach Smith, provided text messages between her and the wives of Ohio State coaches - including Urban Meyer's wife, Shelley - showing Meyer's knowledge of the situation".

Former Ohio State assistant coach Zach Smith is expected to meet with university investigators early this week. He has since apologized, and said that he reported the accusation to the proper channel and followed protocol.
