Madison Keys KO's Suarez Navarro to advance to semifinal

Madison Keys, the highest remaining women's seed in the US Open, joined fellow American Serena Williams in the semifinals after beating Spain's Carla Suarez Navarro 6-4, 6-3 on Wednesday.

Keys, the No. 14 seed, has the quickest turnaround before Thursday's primetime semis. So she made sure to take care of business in a tidy 83 minutes against the No. 30 seed Suarez Navarro, capitalizing on one break in each set while winning all 10 of her service games.

Keys wasn't the only one making noise. Keys, a finalist here previous year, advances to play 19 seed, Naomi Osaka of Japan. When they played in the third round in 2016, Keys overcame a 5-1 deficit in the third set against a tearful Osaka, then just 18 years old.

Keys had the chance to close out the set on Suarez Navarro's racquet at 5-4 and while she was denied at the first time of asking, she did not waste her second opportunity.

But she will face a stern test from Suarez Navarro, who is brimming with confidence after arriving in NY on the heels of a finals appearance at New Haven.

The second set followed a similar pattern, Keys claiming the only break in the sixth game and she never relinquished it en route to the final four.
