The Emirates plane was quarantined after landing at JFK airport on Wednesday morning

Larry Coben, an unconfirmed passenger on the flight, has been tweeting his experience and has since deplaned.

One passenger, Erin Sykes, told the Associated Press that a few passengers were hurried off the plane for medical attention, but that "many, many" more were exhibiting flu-like symptoms, including "Very intense coughing".

In an another apparently unrelated health scare, passengers on four Southwest Airlines flights in Texas may have been exposed to measles in the last 16 days.

The healthy passengers were released. He said, "The plane's been quarantined and the CDC is on the scene".

The New York Police Department's Counterterrorism Bureau said they were monitoring what appears to be a "medical situation" at the airport.

All passengers, except the 12 affected, were released on Thursday evening, according to the CDC.

Passengers told the network that numerous individuals on the plane were exhibiting symptoms prior to boarding, contesting Dubai officials' belief that it was food poisoning. "CDC and Philadelphia public health officers worked with EMS and [Customs and Border Protection] officials to evaluate and test the ill passengers for influenza and other respiratory illnesses".

"Approximately 100 passengers, including some crew on the flight, complained of illness including cough and some with fever". It was unclear if the people who were ill were the same passengers who had attended.

By afternoon, there were still conflicting reports about how many people were sick and unanswered questions about the cause. However, it remains unknown if that means all of the flight's passengers as no official confirmation has been made.

At least 10 passengers were admitted to the hospital after an Emirates flight from Dubai landed in NY around 9:00am.

Emirates confirmed to People that the Centers for Disease Control staff and Port Authority officials from NY and New Jersey were on the scene when the plane arrived.
