Russian President Vladimir Putin and his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping cook pancakes while visiting "The Far East Street" exhibition on the sidelines of the Eastern Economic Forum in Vladivostok, Russia, September 11, 2018. Both face pressure from the administration of U.S. President Donald Trump.

"There are deep and complex changes underway in the global situation, the politics of force, unilateral approaches and protectionism are rearing their head", Xi told the Eastern Economic Forum (EEF) on Wednesday.

Neither mentioned the US directly, but at a later session with Putin and regional officials, Xi underlined that Russian Federation and China agreed to oppose unilateral actions and trade protectionism.

Russian President Vladimir Putin and China's Xi Jinping on Tuesday took a break from the heavy lifting of worldwide diplomacy to toss pancakes on the sidelines of an economic forum.

The forum began as Moscow kicked off its largest military drills for 40 years in its vast eastern and central military districts, ranging from the Ural Mountains to the Pacific coast.

Prime Minister Lee thanked President Putin for Russia's support towards establishing permanent peace and denuclearization on the Korean Peninsula, and said that the South Korean government was doing its best to implement what was agreed in June, between Presidents Moon Jae-in and Putin, including the "nine bridges" of cooperation between South Korea and Russian Federation.
