(Update) Henry Cavill quits Superman, leaves DCEU

"Warners had been trying to enlist Cavill, who most recently co-starred in Mission: Impossible - Fallout, for a Superman cameo in Shazam!, which stars Zachary Levi and will bow April 5".

Look, up in the sky.

It seems as though Diana might be leading a new kind of cinematic universe once the dust settles, as reports from Deadline are now saying that DC's big Super-focus will be on the upcoming Supergirl film, rather than focusing on her cousin Kal-El.

But Henry Cavill is reportedly hanging up his Superman cape as scheduling conflicts lead Warner Bros to rule out any future appearances for the actor as the DC Extended Universe superhero.

The actor first assumed the role in 2013's Man of Steel, and then reprised it for Batman v. Superman (2016) and Justice League (2017). Once upon a development phase, as shepherded by director Zack Snyder, Cavill's Superman and Ben Affleck's Batman were going to be cornerstones of the DCEU - essentially Warner Bros.'s version of Robert Downey Jr.'s Iron Man and Chris Evans's Captain America. With all of Warner Bros.'s DC movies now lined up, a Superman movie is still several years away, with the Supergirl movie being slated first. The outlet previously reported that "22 Jump Street" scribe Oren Uziel is working on a "Supergirl" film script.

While Val-Zod would allow Warner Bros.to paint on a pretty clean slate, he also isn't the main Superman or Clark Kent. That movie would serve as an origin story, starring a teenage hero.

Ezra Miller, who starred as Flash in Justice League, is thought to still be on board for a standlone which is due to start shooting in early 2019. Despite Fantastic Four not having a great script and feeling utterly jumbled, Jordan gave the role his all and gave a fiery performance, becoming one of the best parts of the movie.
