Brazil's far-right presidential candidate Jair Bolsonaro, who was stabbed in the stomach during a campaign rally last week, maintained his lead but saw no big boost in a Datafolha poll published Monday.

With former president Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva jailed and barred from standing in the October 7 election first round, Bolsonaro has been elevated to the top of polls with a 10-point lead over his nearest rivals, environmentalist Marina Silva and center-left candidate Ciro Gomes. He also pointed out that Bolsonaro has immunity as a sitting lawmaker.

Moraes said those comments did not cross the limits of his freedom of expression.

Bolsonaro will still have to stand trial for accusations of slander and incitation to rape. The far-right congressman was stabbed on Thursday during a campaign rally.

The Sao Paulo hospital where Bolsonaro is being treated for the knife wound to his abdomen said Tuesday that he is no longer in intensive care and is instead in a semi-intense care unit.

The poll by Globo TV and the Folha de S.Paulo newspaper was released as Lula spent the day in jailhouse meetings with former Sao Paulo Mayor Fernando Haddad, who remains as the vice presidential candidate on the PT ticket.

"I hold many differences with Jair Bolsonaro and you know all of this, we are in opposing camps when it comes to our vision for Brazil and this (attack) does not change this", stated presidential candidate Guilherme Boulos.

Datafolha surveyed 2,804 voters across Brazil on Monday.
