Apple has officially released the iOS 12 Golden Master seed, which, in reality, actually means that developers and public testers have access to the first public release of iOS 12 in everything but name. If you want to use iOS 12 before the vast majority of people, all you need to do is join the beta. An easy way to do this is through iTunes, but you can also back everything up in iCloud (as long as you're okay with possibly overwriting your previous iOS 11 backup with a newer iOS 12 one).

The company is also presenting the new iOS 12 as a system that will make iPhone and iPad experiences faster and more responsive.

Users should then hit the "sign up" button at the bottom of the page and use their existing Apple ID login details.

Once logged in, there will be an iOS tab visible that will present the option of downloading beta profile onto the device.

iOS 12 brings a ton of changes to the iPhone, including faster performance on older devices. Follow further on-screen instructions.

It is wonderful to see just how much Apple has been able to improve the performance of its older devices by simply rolling out a software update.

Apple used this year's WWDC to wax lyrical about the improvements made within iOS 12 and to try and instill the belief that it is going to bring immediate speed and performance gains over iOS 114.1. After that happens go to settings and check for an update.

All iPhones from the 5S to the X are supported, as well as the iPod Touch 6th generation, iPad mini 2, 3, and 4, iPad Air and iPad Air 2, 5th generation iPad, iPad 2018, and the iPad Pro (9.7-inch, 10.5-inch, and both generations of 12.9-inch). Messages and FaceTime also get the ability to let users share images and videos directly from inside the app.

The faster app loading times in iOS 12 along will have a major usability impact as it will create an impression of older iPhones running faster post installing the latest iOS release.

Tim Cook casually dropped the important news as Apple's iPhone event came to a close.
