Clinton Morrison believes that Liverpool are the standout contenders to challenge Manchester City for the Premier League title this season.

Liverpool now sit joint top of the table with four wins from four and, galvanised by the summer purchase of Brazil No 1 Alisson Becker, have conceded just one goal so far in that impressive run.

"I don't know exactly what it means but to focus on one competition can only be if maybe you are already out of the competition almost".

Tottenham manager, Mauricio Pochettino spoke at a press conference and with Sky Sports specifically about the upcoming matches against Liverpool and the Champions League fixture against Inter.

The Argentinian said: "He needs to provide the team with his best, but maybe in the circumstances we are like a team, or when he plays with England it's maybe not the best conditions for a striker to give the best".

"We have players that worked together now for much longer; he comes from another league, a completely different system which Monaco played, to us".

"Only we need to try, that he understands, and how he understands that it was a mistake".

"I would like the team to qualify out the group, and then after Christmas when you are involved in the latter stages, have the option to rest one or two players".

Speaking in an interview quoted by Metro, Neville said: "The Champions League - if I was Liverpool, I would kick it into touch".

"Even Gary would say, don't let City win, I don't want to be too critical, sitting in an office is different to doing the job".

Adam Lallana, however, is not expected back until the end of the month.

"Unfortunately he [Lovren] is not fit at the moment, but I am sure he will be back in a pretty intense period with seven games in the next three weeks".

Jordan Henderson and Heung-min Son during the Premier League match between Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur at Anfield on February 4, 2018 in Liverpool, England.

"I'll go for 2-1 Liverpool". It has been good but it hasn't been brilliant and we haven't blown teams away to the same degree as last season. What did he say about Manchester United in that case?

"We know Harry Kane very well in the last more than four years we work with him".
