"The idea that they would accuse me of being soft on anti-Semitism is an outrage".

A Siena College poll released Monday suggests Cuomo has widened his lead over Nixon, an education activist and former "Sex and the City" star. Cuomo's lead is up from a 31-point advantage in the same poll taken at the end of July.

Cuomo spent the first few days of September making daily announcements on infrastructure achievements, including the groundbreaking of a third track for the Long Island Rail Road, a new and brighter entrance to the beleaguered Penn Station, and last Friday, the opening of the final span of the Mario Cuomo Bridge, named after the governor's late father.

However, as of today, another prominent celebrity has backed Nixon: rapper T.I.

"We have this poll that shows Cuomo up big", he says, "by all rights, he should win, but we don't play elections based on the voters".

"Cuomo has expanded his two-to-one lead in July and now seems poised to overwhelm Nixon in Thursday's Democratic primary".

The second span was supposed to open to the public on Saturday but crews disassembling the nearby old Tappan Zee Bridge discovered that it had destabilized and could fall, potentially hitting the new span.

"They will show up and make themselves heard", Ms. Hitt said. Sent ahead of the Jewish High Holidays, the mailer falsely claimed that Nixon supported the campaign to boycott Israel, and that she has refused to fund yeshivas if elected. Instead, Berman has vowed to work with the Nixon campaign to send out a separate mailer to the "same universe of people" that received the initial attack.

"I am the mother of Jewish children and I am very alarmed by the rise of anti-Semitism in this country and globally I am frightened for my children, I am frightened for my world", Nixon said.

Sources told NY1 that the mailer cost about $11,300 and went out to about 7,000 households. Matilda Cuomo did not campaign for her son four years ago but did for her late husband, Mario Cuomo, who was governor from 1983 to 1995.
