Tottenham boss Pochettino not ruling out new deal for Alderweireld

Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino has not ruled out Toby Alderweireld agreeing a new contract at the club.

Lloris admitted being more than twice above the drink-drive limit when he was stopped by police in central London last month.

"Of course he's the first that regrets everything, and all that happened yesterday is not good". He said he was guilty of this situation and it's irresponsible. "But the most important thing is it is not a big issue and he will be available as soon as possible". He made a mistake and he is suffering. He is punishing himself. I want a watch or some Korean food.' Because when we see in the past that different clubs didn't allow [him] to go to play in this tournament, who took the risk?

"He said "Gaffer it's a massive lesson for me". Only we need to try, how he understands that it was a mistake.

When asked whether Lloris had offered to give up the club captaincy, Pochettino said: 'He apologised to everyone.

Goalkeeper Lloris sustained a thigh problem during last month's 3-0 win at Manchester United, which meant he missed the subsequent 2-1 loss at Watford and France's global commitments over the past week.

"In this situation he has spent a period where he was fighting with this situation, and now I think he's accepting that and he's going to move on and play his best, of course".

"I wish to apologise wholeheartedly to my family, the club, my teammates, the manager and all of the supporters", Lloris had earlier said. "I am disappointed because we are going to miss him for this game and maybe the Champions League game against Inter Milan [on September 18]".

England coach Gareth Southgate had said he expected him to have recovered by the time Spurs took on Liverpool, but Pochettino has confirmed that is not the case. I am not disappointed with him.

Pochettino also insists he has no concerns about the form of Harry Kane, who has made a sluggish start to the season after his World Cup exertions.
