Modern Family has stood the test of time, now about to enter its tenth season!

Modern Family returns for its 10th season on September 26, and the show's co-creator Christopher Lloyd told Entertainment Weekly that fans can expect a death during the upcoming season of the ABC comedy.

It's unclear whether season 10 will be the show's final season, but Lloyd hopes to continue the award-winning series.

Lloyd, of course, isn't saying who will be killed off, but he promises that he/she is a "significant character on the series" and the death "will be a moving event - and an event that has repercussions across several episodes".

'But at the same time, it would seem unusual for a family not to go through it'.

Modern Family boasts a star-studded cast, including Ed O'Neill, Sofia Vergara, Julie Bowen, Ty Burrell, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Eric Stonestreet, Ariel Winter, Sarah Hyland, Rico Rodriguez and Nolan Gould.

We're handling some bigger life events in this season. He added, "there's a decent chance we'll see it happen".

'I hope there is.

Who will we lose this season?

'They're in many ways such different characters than they were five or 10 years ago when we started and they're just as interesting and just as amusing, ' Lloyd said.

For now, we'll just have to focus on what's coming in season 10 for the Dunphy family.
