Gordon had missed all of the preseason while nursing a hamstring injury.

The Browns announced earlier Saturday that Gordon was ruled out to play against the New Orleans Saints because of a hamstring injury.

Details are slowly starting to emerge surrounding the Cleveland Browns' shocking decision to move on from Josh Gordon.

"This afternoon we informed Josh Gordon and his representatives that we are going to release him on Monday", general manager John Dorsey said in a statement.

The Browns will release troubled wide receiver Josh Gordon. As many as five teams are researching possibly trading for him, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported, per sources informed.

But a source Saturday told cleveland.com that Gordon was "a little tardy" arriving to the facility, where he he complained of a pulled hamstring.

However, after that Pro Bowl season, Gordon was suspended for 44 consecutive games dating back to the final week of the 2014 season, which was a team ban for reportedly missing a walk-through prior to a trip to Baltimore to play the Ravens. "I'm glad I was able to have the opportunity and it's good to be here and I feel grateful for the opportunity to have the chance to come back out here and be with my teammates and enjoy this attractive atmosphere".

According to NBC 5's and SportsDay contributor Jean-Jacques Taylor, Dallas now does not show any interest in adding Gordon. Dorsey and the new regime are trying to set a high standard for players to live up to in hopes they can turn the win-less franchise around.
