Canadian singer Justin Bieber is making more changes than a marital status.

But he could be mixing up the red and white flag with a bit of blue.

Bieber, an Ontario native - who sparked rumors of a secret wedding with fiancé Hailey Baldwin on Friday - is applying for dual citizenship so he will retain his Canadian citizenship, according to TMZ.

Bieber moved to Atlanta, Ga., when he was 13 years old and has lived in the US ever since.

After getting a background check from the Federal Bureau of Investigation - although a quick Google will bring up all you need to know about the Sorry singer's run-ins with the law - Justin will appear at an oath ceremony and pledge allegiance to the USA of A.

It's not much of a surprise, really - Justin has been in the United States since pretty much the beginning of his teen years, and nearly all of his life is now down here... friends, family, business, and, of course, Hailey.

The latest Bieber news comes after it was rumoured that he and Baldwin had secretly tied the knot just over two months after getting engaged.

"I understand where the speculation is coming from, but I'm not married yet!"
