Former Never Mind The Buzzcocks host Mark Lamarr has been charged with common assault and false imprisonment.

He is originally from Swindon and was born Mark Jones.

Lamarr became famous in the 1990s for presenting shows such as Channel 4's The Big Breakfast, and The Word with Terry Christian.

He captained a quiz team on Shooting Stars in the mid-90s before hosting Buzzcocks for nine years.

The 51-year-old, most known for hosting Never Mind The Buzzcocks, was arrested earlier this month over the incident at his home.

He claimed Radio 2 had lost interest in non-mainstream music when he departed in 2010.

He also co-wrote two series of sitcom 15 Storeys High with 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown panellist Sean Lock and Phoneshop comedian Martin Trenaman.

He will now appear before magistrates in Uxbridge on 2 October.
