Obaseki made the submission in commemoration of the celebration of World Mental Health Day, marked on October 10, each year.

"Suicide is the second leading cause of death among 15-29-year-olds".

He said the government was committed to providing accessible the health care services to the people at minimum cost, adding that the government has also paid special attention to making the treatment of mental diseases more simplified and affordable.

"Anyone who cares about poverty, education, social cohesion or economic progress should work to improve mental health, putting the vast knowledge we have on promotion, prevention and care, into action".

She said that this period could come with stress and anxiety which often led to serious mental illness if not recognised and managed on time.

"Mental health is a very important issue and we should try to help young people to live happier lives without worry", said Seb, who raised more than £400 for Young Minds through a cake sale and by selling yellow headbands.

For such a long time I have campaigned for mental health, having had a relationship with anti-depressants since my early teenage years.

It comes as Health Secretary Matt Hancock hosts the first ever Global Ministerial Mental Health Summit in London, attended by more than 50 countries as well as the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.

"We need to do more to challenge the stigma that people with mental ill-health face and make sure they feel they can reach out for help", he said.

Gaga noted that one in four of us will have to deal with a mental health condition at some point in our lives and that 800,000 people will commit suicide this year.

"We are never going to stop every hamstring from being pulled or prevent every concussion but we should always strive to be better, particularly when an athlete first enters a programme so they know that they are joining a system that is more sensitive, more alert, more compassionate and more reactive to these issues".

Issues such as homelessness, exposure to violence and perceived racism are some factors that can worsen the effects of mental health illness in African Americans.

"Ending the Silence" helps middle and high school students understand mental illness and mental health issues, teaches common warning signs and when and where young people can get help for themselves and for their friends".
