Ariana Grande returned to daytime television to perform her new single "thank u, next" for the first time on Wednesday's episode of "The Ellen DeGeneres Show".

There were some bumps and maybe even a few tears, but she persisted (and managed to find the fun), serving some on-point vocals as always.

Inspired by her favorite movie The First Wives Club, the pop superstar was joined by the song's co-writers, Victoria Monét and Tayla Parx.

As for the performance, it was definitely live as she almost took a faceplant trying to step down from a chair on the wedding reception-inspired set.

Adding fuel to the fire, the biography of Zandhr on Spotify appeared in the upside down font which Ariana Grande has used on her most recent album campaign. One taught me love, one taught me patience, and one taught me pain'.

She sings: "Thought I'd end up with Sean/But he wasn't a match/Wrote some songs about Ricky/Now I listen and laugh".

In the video, Ariana sings about overcoming life's challenges using the power of breath as she makes her way through crowded locales solo.

Ariana then changes into a sexy yet sophisticated jacket and thigh-high boots as she walks through smoke. She finished the performance with a smile, and danced down the aisles of the set while the audience cheered. That was incredible! That was awesome. DeGeneres responds: "It's totally fine, we're happy that you came back". You've had a rough year.

She helped organize the One Love Manchester concert previous year, raising more than US$23 million for victims of the Manchester bombing.

In Your Hands is thought to be the collaboration between Ariana Grande and Diplo which was teased in 2016. She called it "far from a diss track" and proclaimed it was "the opposite". "He is supposed to be here".

The singer has dropped thank u, next, from the upcoming fifth album of the same name.
