43 runs in one over … conceded by a South African!

Brett Hampton hit three sixes a four and a single in the record over

South Africa-born fast bowler Willem Ludick was at the receiving end as he was taken to the cleaners, literally.

A new record was created in List A cricket when two batsmen from New Zealand scored 43 runs off a single over in the Ford Trophy, the country's domestic one-day competition. Northern Districts batsmen Joe Carter and Brett Hampton belted six sixes - two of which were hit off no balls - a four and a single during the first class match at Hamilton's Seddon Park. This is the most number of runs conceded in an over in a List A game.

Carter finished unbeaten on 102 off 77 balls while Hampton was dismissed for 95 off 66. Chigumbara while playing for Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club hammered 39 runs off an over bowled by Abahani Limited bowler Alauddin Babu in Dhaka Premier League held in 2013.

Hampton smashed three sixes of which two came of no balls while the last three sixes were smashed by Carter.

The bowler would consider himself unlucky as the first ball of the over was a flawless widish yorker which could have been chopped onto the stumps, but it luckily for the batsman missed the wickets and went for a boundary.

The bowler, who went into his 10th over with figures of 1-42, returned 1-85.

In all, the duo added 178 runs for the sixth wicket to take their side to 313/7.

Same went for ball three. The partnership between Carter and Hampton was also the record sixth-wicket partnership for Northern Districts against the Central Districts, breaking the previous record of 150 runs set by BJ Watling and Peter McGlashan in 2011.
