Fossil launches Fossil Sport, a Wear OS smartwatch running the Snapdragon 3100 - GSMArena.com news

The company's latest smartwatch, the Fossil Sport, is perhaps its most exciting launch in some time - that's because it's powered by Qualcomm's new Snapdragon Wear 3100 chipset.

With Wear OS receiving a redesign back in September, a few manufacturers have been looking to leverage the OS in new devices.

Integrating the 3100 chip means that the watch's battery life is expected to last over 24 hours when it's in "smartwatch mode" and it lasts over two days when set to watch-only mode.

And, naturally, the whole show will continue to run on Google's Wear OS platform, which was recently given a makeover in order to improve day-to-day usability.

The array of sensors included with the Fossil Sport Smartwatch includes Global Positioning System, heart rate, NFC, altimeter, gyroscope, accelerometer, and ambient light.

Online sales are underway today, followed by physical inventory headed to "select" Fossil retail stores around the world on November 12.

According to Fossil, the watch will come in a 41mm and 43mm size options, with six colorways and a huge collection of interchangeable straps to choose from. At least on paper, this represents a feature-packed smartwatch with a bonus of extended battery life - all for a price that sensibly undercuts competitors like Apple and Samsung.
