Nicole Kidman set the record straight as to why she hardly opens up about her two older children from her previous marriage to Tom Cruise.

Following a wave of criticism from fans, Nicole made a conscious effort to address Bella and Connor at the Critics" Choice Awards in January as she picked up her gong for her role in Big Little Lies, saying: "I want to thank all of my children who show me so much love'.

She continued: "I am an example of that tolerance and that's what I believe - that no matter what your child does, the child has love and the child has to know there is available love and I'm open here".

Meanwhile, it comes after Isabella paid a surprise tribute to her mother earlier this year when she acknowledged her surname in her new fashion line, labelling it BKC - which stands for Bella Kidman Cruise.

Over the years, there has been speculation that the siblings have become estranged from their mother, and more so when she married Keith Urban in 2006 and had two biological children, Sunday, 10, and Faith, 7.

In an interview with Who magazine published on Thursday, Nov. 8, 2018, Kidman commented on Bella and Connor's beliefs in Scientology - a hotly contested organization of which their movie star father is, perhaps unofficially, the face of.

Former Scientologist Leah Remini suggested Nicole had been made a Supressive Person - a term reportedly given to former members of the church of Scientolog, generally indicating they've been "cut off" from their family - in her book Troublemaker: Surviving Hollywood and Scientology, though the claims were later denied. So that's our job as a parent, to always offer unconditional love.

Both of her kids remain members of Scientology, like their famous dad. "She left and she's okay".

The actress who plays the mom of a kid sent to gay conversion therapy in Boy Erased also discussed tolerance during the interview. The movie, now in theaters, was written and directed by fellow Australian star Joel Edgerton.

Kidman and Cruise introducing Connor and Bella to Australia in 1996. "I think it's such a great way to express and Bella is a attractive drawer as well, she's always been able to draw".

That said, I got married very young, but it definitely wasn't power for me - it was protection.

"I'm very private about all that".
