The Bomber confirmed in the ring after the fight the Usyk loss was his final outing, but emotions took over in the corner as Bellew shared a word with his coach.

Tony Bellew failed in his attempt to become undisputed cruiserweight world champion as he was stopped by Ukraine's Oleksandr Usyk in Manchester.

The 2012 Olympic heavyweight gold medallist stunned Bellew with a right to the head before banging in a looping left to send him crashing to the canvas and, ultimately, into retirement.

Humility has been a double-edged sword in the closing years of Tony Bellew's career.

The Briton, a former world cruiserweight champion who moved up to heavyweight and twice beat compatriot and former world champion David Haye, paid an emotional tribute to his southpaw rival.

'He beat me fair and square, I have no excuses.

'I was down on the scorecards so I had to pull it out of the bag, ' said Riakpohre, who is mentored by Dillian Whyte.

"He's an wonderful fighter. He definitely needs to fight Anthony Joshua", said the Ukrainian's promoter Alex Krassyuk.

Usyk, the IBF, WBA, WBC and WBO champion, floored Bellew in the eighth round and referee Terry O'Connor waved off the count before he got to 10.
