President Donald Trump has called for a "full and complete" sentence for his long-time lawyer Michael Cohen. Cohen's statements marked the first time the president was implicated in a federal crime since Mueller's probe began.

Trump tweets Monday: "You mean he can do all of the awful, unrelated to Trump, things having to do with fraud, big loans, Taxis, etc., and not serve a long prison term?"

Tweeted Trump: '"Michael Cohen asks judge for no Prison Time".

Former federal prosecutor Peter Zeidenberg-who also served as a deputy special counsel for the prosecution of Scooter Libby-wrote in USA Today that despite Trump's many claims that there was "no collusion" among his presidential campaign and Russian Federation, it appears that special counsel Robert Mueller has built a case centered on showing otherwise. Cohen earlier pleaded guilty to campaign finance fraud for his payments to Trump's alleged mistresses and testified that he and Trump continued to talk about Russian Federation business dealings throughout the campaign.

Cohen had previously claimed that those efforts had ended in January 2016 and had not been discussed widely within the Trump organization.

"Michael's decision to cooperate and take full responsibility for his own conduct well reflects his personal resolve, notwithstanding past errors, to re-point his internal compass true north toward a productive, ethical and thoroughly law-abiding life", the lawyers said in a court filing.

Trump cited Stone's pledge to never testify against him.

Cohen, who worked with Trump for well over a decade, is cooperating with special counsel Robert Mueller's investigation.

"Bob Mueller (who is a much different man than people think) and his out of control band of Angry Democrats, don't want the truth, they only want lies", Trump wrote.

A few minutes later Trump posted another tweet praising Roger Stone, a longtime Republican operative and ally of Trump during his presidential campaign, for his "guts" in refusing to testify against the president. "The truth is very bad for their mission!" he also tweeted.
