Huawei Nova 4 Launch Set for December 17 Features Display Hole for Selfie Camera

And now South Korean tech giant Samsung has announced the launch date of its Galaxy A8s smartphone which will also feature an in-display hole for the selfie sensor. The smartphone will launch first in China. Lenovo will unveil the Z5s tomorrow, Samsung has scheduled an event for December 10 to unveil the Galaxy A8s. The fingerprint scanner is also placed on the rear, so there is no in-screen fingerprint scanner.

The Huawei Nova 4 has an edge to edge display but with a noticeable chin at the bottom.

Huawei has been teasing the Nova 4 for a couple of weeks now, a phone that features circular camera cutout instead of the infamous notch.

Samsung has just confirmed the launch of their first "Infinity-O display" smartphone, the Galaxy A8, for December 10th in China. One difference is that Samsung's front facing camera is supposed to be built on the top right side, and in case of Huawei Nova 4 it would appear in the top left-hand side. After this, Samsung unveiled its Foldable phone, along with the Infinity-U, Infinity-V and Infinity-O designs. More insights to the smartphone in the coming days will make it clear how good the device will really be. But the Nova 4 is unlike anything that the series has seen before. The phone is also reported to come without a 3.5mm headphone jack. It is still unknown whether the phone will support wireless charging, though chances are it will not, as this will be a mid-range smartphone after all.

The 2018 was all about notched displays and the 2019 could well be the year of Display Hole aka Infinity-O display in Samsung's terms.

While it is not confirmed, rumour has it that the A8s will come with 6.3-inch LCD display, and the hole on the display will house a 24MP front camera. So, even if it comes second, it will still have an advantage over the Galaxy A8s (expected to have a Snapdragon 710).
